Security boost for Muslim festival as trains resume | Bangkok Post: news


The order for scaled-up security came from Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon, said national police chief Chakthip Chaijinda. The fourth army region's commander and the Southern Border Provinces Police Operation Centre were working on the matter. Pol Gen Chakthip said he received intelligence of possible attacks after the new army chief and fourth army region's commander were endorsed last week. Assistant army commander Chalermchai Sittisart will be promoted to army chief, succeeding Thirachai Nakwanich when he retires this month. Gen Thirachai's brother and army adviser, Piyawat Nakwanich, will head the fourth army region, overseeing the South.
